Storage while the renovation happens
Dust gets into everything, and a contractor working around a covered sofa works slower than one working in an empty room. Getting the furniture out usually pays for itself twice.
Sheeting is not protection
The standard approach is to push everything into the middle of the room and throw dust sheets over it. It does not work. Sanding gypsum, cutting tile and demolishing block release a fine dust that travels through a flat and settles into upholstery, mattress seams, curtain fabric, speaker grilles and the mechanism of anything with a moving part.
Upholstery that has taken construction dust does not fully recover from vacuuming. Neither does a mattress.
The second reason: the trades work faster
An empty room is a faster room. Painters do not cut in around furniture, tilers do not work in half a room at a time, and nobody spends the first hour of the day shifting a wardrobe from one wall to the other.
On a six-to-ten week apartment renovation, clearing the space usually takes days off the programme — and days off a renovation in a flat you are paying rent on are worth money.
How the renovation booking works
Two collections and two deliveries, planned around your contractor:
- We pack, wrap and photograph everything before the trades arrive.
- It is stored in a temperature-controlled unit for the duration — typically six to twelve weeks for an apartment.
- When the site is clean and the paint has cured, we bring it back in.
Renovations run late. There is no lock-in contract, so if the programme slips by three weeks your storage simply continues at the monthly rate.
Return delivery is quoted separately and charged in addition to storage, unless it is already included in your agreed package. Collection and return timing is confirmed based on availability.
If the renovation includes painting
If the work is a repaint rather than a full renovation, it is usually cheaper to have us handle both: storage plus painting booked together saves AED 200 on the painting. Move, store and paint.

Common questions
How quickly can you collect or return my items?
Message us on WhatsApp and we reply quickly. We confirm the collection or return slot with you before anything is scheduled — collection and return timing is confirmed based on availability.
The more notice you can give, the more choice of slot you have. If you are working to a fixed handover date, tell us the date when you first message.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. There is no lock-in contract. You can store for a month or for a year.
If you pay quarterly or annually upfront to take advantage of the discounts, that period is paid in advance — the discount is the trade-off for committing early.
How much does storage cost in Dubai with Smart Space?
Storage starts at AED 500 per month for a boxes-only unit. A studio is AED 700, a one-bedroom AED 1,200, a two-bedroom AED 1,950 and a villa AED 2,600 per month. Packing and transport is charged once, from AED 850. All prices exclude 5% VAT.
You get the full price confirmed before anything is booked.
How do I know what size I need?
Send us a photo or a short video of the rooms on WhatsApp and describe the furniture. We will tell you which size fits and what it costs before you commit.
We size by category rather than by measurement: Boxes, Studio, 1 Bedroom, 2 Bedroom and Villa. Most people book the one that matches the property they are emptying — the one-bedroom category is the most common.
Can you paint the apartment as well?
Yes. We coordinate apartment painting for handover — studio AED 850, one-bedroom AED 1,600, two-bedroom AED 2,200, villa AED 2,800, excluding VAT. Book it together with your storage and you save AED 200.
You do not need to be there. We handle the scheduling so the flat is painted and ready for the handover inspection.
Do I pay extra to get my things back?
Yes. Return delivery is quoted separately and charged in addition to storage, unless it is already included in your agreed package. It is normally charged at the same rate as your original collection, and the amount is confirmed with you before we schedule it.
If you paid six or twelve months upfront, your collection is free — return delivery is still quoted separately.
Is there anything you cannot store?
Yes. We cannot store food or anything perishable, live plants or animals, flammable or explosive material such as gas cylinders, fuel and solvents, chemicals, weapons and ammunition, illegal items, or cash, jewellery and documents of high value.
If you are unsure about something, ask before collection day rather than on it. Full list here.
Is my property covered while it is in storage?
Cover is not automatically included in the prices on this site. If you want cover for your items, raise it when you request your quote and we will set out the options in writing as part of your quotation and terms.
What is included as standard: a temperature-controlled, CCTV-monitored facility with controlled access, and a photo and video inventory of everything you hand over.
